There are some easy steps to freezing or locking rows and columns in excel.

1) Select View option from the menu bar.

2) Select freeze panes.

3) There you will get 3 more options

     Freeze Panes: It keeps rows and columns visible,rest of the sheet scrolls

     Freeze top row: It Keeps top row visible while scrolling down.

     Freeze top column: Keep the first column visible.

     

4)  Here i was selected "Free top row".
